The Lake Cumberland District Health Department recently announced that all residents of its 10-county service area will soon receive a packet of information in their mailboxes.
"We have put together some terrific resources for our communities," said Shawn Crabtree, executive director of Lake Cumberland District Health Department.
The packet contains several nutritious recipes that are both healthy and affordable, a DVD demonstrating how to prepare the recipes that are enclosed, as well as how to exercise in your home with no special equipment to purchase and information about health department services.
"Many people say they can't afford to eat healthy foods, buy exercise equipment or gym memberships," Crabtree said. "We want to help them see they can eat inexpensive foods which are nutritious, and we are offering ideas for more physical activity in the comfort of their own homes."
The informational packets are being mailed the first week of August and should start arriving in homes within a few days. The Lake Cumberland District Health Department encourages residents to look through the packets and use the information to make changes and improve their health and quality of life.
