The 2013 Junior Miss/Distinguished Young Women of Taylor County participants had an orientation meeting on May 20 at Campbellsville University.
The young women, joined by their parents, were introduced to some of the committee's volunteers, provided with information and were given the expectations associated with this scholarship program.
The volunteers discussed some of the events that the young women will participate in and how this program will help them develop skills that will last a lifetime.
The Junior Miss/Distinguished Young Women of Taylor County program has been scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 25, at 7 p.m. at Campbellsville High School's Hamilton Auditorium.
Between now and Aug. 25, the contestants will participate in community service events, attend many events with the other contestants, participate in DYW Boot Camp and practice for the main program.
Donations to the Taylor County Junior Miss/Distinguished Young Women's scholarship fund are needed. Those interested can Shelly Miller, Susan Dabney or Angie Russell. Visit www.distinguishedyw.org for more information.
