Daughter of local couple serves on Board of Education

Beth Cox, the daughter of Campbellsville residents Gordon and Betty Jane Gorin-Smith, is serving on the Sumner County Board of Education in Sumner County, Tenn.

Cox was also listed in the 2013 Sumner County Fact Book.

According to the book, Cox was elected in 2008 and has a reputation for "thoughtful and data-driven research on issues dealing with all aspects of the school system, from budget to policy making, and speaking out against the 1981 Financial Management Act.

According to Betty Jane Gorin-Smith, her daughter is often on television and in the news. She was the only female on the board, Gorin-Smith said, though another has been elected. Cox currently serves as vice chair of the Board.
