Campbellsville's Karla Curry will be among 10 candidates to complete their bachelor of fine arts at the Hite Art Institute, University of Louisville this spring.
The students will present an exhibition of their work beginning Tuesday, March 25 in the Hite's Schneider Hall galleries. This exhibition is a culmination of their undergraduate work demonstrating their technical competence, aesthetic abilities and knowledge of professional studio practice.
In addition to Curry, the artists include Jimmy Brooner, Anne Ensign, Derek Gabbert, Shawn Gallagher, Nick Karl, Shelley Lee, Sara Mattingly, Megan Mette, and Amy Rench. Their areas of studio practice include painting, drawing, video, sculpture, photography and ceramics. Each has assembled a focused body of work as part of the requirements for their graduation.
The show opens with a reception for the artists from 5 to 8 p.m. on March 25. Introductions and remarks will be given at 6 p.m. and Brooner will screen his latest video following. The show continues through April 27. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
