CU takes two in Lindsey Wilson Classic

Campbellsville University posted a pair of wins over the weekend in the Lindsey Wilson Classic in Columbia.

Coach Keith Adkins' Tigers conquered Wayland Baptist 80-41 on Friday night as newcomers Marcus Nicks and Nestor Colmenares scored 19 and 14 points, respectively, while Clinton Joshua added nine and Deveon Jenkins and Bubba Long had eight apiece.

Colmenares had seven rebounds while Long had five assists and each had three steals.

Campbellsville downed the University of St. Francis (Ind.) 65-59 on Saturday afternoon.

Long (14), Jenkins (12), Clint Graham (12) and Colmenares (11) led a balanced Tiger attack.

Colmenares completed a double-double with 10 rebounds while Graham, the Gardner-Webb transfer pulled down seven. Long had five assists.

The Tigers (2-1) compete in the Huntington (Ind.) Classic this weekend.

Campbellsville plays Madonna (Mich.) tomorrow at 6:00 and will play the winner (3:00) or loser (1:00) on Saturday of the other first-round game involving the host team and Kuyper (Mich.).

Next week the Tigers play Cincinnati Christian (Tuesday at 6) and Ohio Christian (Wednesday at 6) in the Pikeville Classic.

Campbellsville plays its first home games this season on Nov. 23-24 when they host the Lou Cunningham Classic.

In that field, will be No. 1-rated and defending NAIA Division 1 champion Oklahoma City, Faulkner (Ala.) and Lindsey Wilson College.

The local teams will play the out-of-state teams each night.
