A Campbellsville University student athlete died Monday night after a single vehicle wreck on the Martha Layne Collins Bluegrass Parkway about six miles east of the I-65 junction.

According to Kentucky State Police, Ben G. Napier, 19, of Elizabethtown was traveling west on the parkway when he lost control of the 1991 Buick Park Avenue he was driving.

A KSP report states that the Buick's left-side tires entered the median, prompting Napier to overcorrect, causing the car to spin across the westbound lanes of the parkway.

Leaving the westbound lanes and crossing the right shoulder, police say the Buick struck a tree, killing the teen.

Napier was extricated from the car by first responders and taken by ambulance to Hardin Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to the report.
