Campbellsville University's Department of Theater will have auditions for the play "The Taming of the Shrew" by William Shakespeare on Jan. 22-23 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the University Theater.
Call backs will be Thursday, Jan. 24, and those who get a part in the play are to be available Saturday, Jan. 26 for a read-through of the play.
Starr Garrett, director of theater, said those wanting to audition are asked to call the theater office or come by the office in the Alumni Building to sign up for an audition time. The phone number is 789-5266.
She said those auditioning will need to come prepared with a monologue. There are parts available for ages 17 and up.
"The Taming of the Shrew is a story of secret identities, sarcasm and romance," Garrett said. "The play is educational and entertaining."
The play involves two sisters, Bianca and Kate, and there are many men who want to marry Bianca. But there is one thing stopping them: her sister, Kate, must marry first, and Kate is mean to everyone and despised by all - a true shrew.
The play will be presented Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 6-8 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 9 at 2 p.m. in the University Theater.
Tickets are $5 for general admission, with group rates available.
