Campbellsville University broke open a 14-10 game in Columbia Friday night at the Lindsey Wilson College Homecoming Classic, pulled out to a 51-24 half-time lead and went on to defeat the University of Michigan-Dearborn 96-65 in the season opener.
Coach Keith Adkins’ Tigers led by as many as 32 in the second half. Dearborn cut that lead to 24 before Nestor Colmenares hammered home two successive dunks.
Colmenares led all scorers with 18 points, even though saddled with foul trouble much of the game. He led all rebounders as well with 14 caroms. Also reaching double figures was Caleb Harris and Jonas Bohm with 14 apiece and Brett Crittenden added 10.
CU played Roberts Wesleyan at LWC on Saturday.
