CU to host guest saxophone recital

Campbellsville University's School of Music will host Korean saxophonist Seungdong Lee for a master class and recital on Feb. 1 and 2, both of which are open to the public.

Lee performs in the KBS Symphony Orchestra and Sung NamPhilharmonic Orchestra, and he is the principal saxophonist of the Korea Saxophone Ensemble.

The saxophone master class is Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 6 p.m. in the Gheens Recital Hall. The recital will be Thursday, Feb. 2, at 8 p.m., also in the Gheens Recital Hall.

Lee was born in 1980 at Seoul in South Korea. He earned his bachelor's degree from Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea. In 2005, he began studies in France where he earned numerous honors and awards including first prize at the Concour European de Musique en Picardi.

He returned to Korea in 2008 and has since appeared as a soloist with the Si-Heun Philharmonic Orchestra, the Yonsei Symphonic Band and the Venust Wind Orchestra. He has been a saxophone professor at Yonsei University and Gangneung-Wonju University since 2009. In 2010, Lee was chosen as a RICO artist.
