CU to host art exhibit through Feb. 7

Campbellsville University art professor Tommy Clark will have a faculty art exhibit through Feb. 7 at the new art gallery across from Gosser Fine Arts Center. The exhibit will feature watercolors, mixed media and clay sculptures and ceramics.

A reception for Clark will be tonight from 7 to 8:30 in the gallery.

The exhibit and the reception are free and open to the public.

Clark began teaching at Campbellsville University in 1972. He holds a master of fine arts in visual art from Vermont College in mixed media sculpture, a master of arts degree in fine arts from Northwestern State University in Louisiana and a bachelor of arts degree in commercial art from Southwestern State College in Oklahoma.

He has also done post-graduate work at Western Kentucky University, Tennessee Tech University and the Appalachian Center for Crafts.

Clark has been a juried member of the Kentucky Department of the Arts and the Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsman. He has won numerous awards at the Kentucky State Fair and has entered many shows and exhibitions including the spring and fall shows in Berea, Ky.

He has been invited to exhibit in special themed shows at the Kentucky Center of Design and Arts, such as "Holidazzle" and "Bottles 2002." Clark was also a demonstrator on the Blue Ribbon Stage at the 2004 Kentucky State Fair.

Clark is involved in creating a series of apocalyptic sculptures focusing on the creatures that will be all that is left when humans have destroyed the world. Some of these pieces will be part of the faculty exhibit.

Clark and his wife, Judy, who is the office assistant in the Campbellsville University Office of Student Records, have three children; Andrew Clark, a 1996 graduate of Campbellsville University, and his wife, Jennifer, who have two children, Gabriel and Cailet Elizabeth; Franklin Clark, a 2004 CU graduate; and Ruthe Clark Marsh of

Winston Salem, N.C., who is married to Todd Marsh and has a daughter, Elizabeth Eileen.
