CU hoop teams take two at home

Lady Tigers crush Wilberforce, Tigers best Brescia

Campbellsville University swept a home basketball doubleheader on Friday as the Lady Tigers rolled past Wilberforce (Ohio) 96-45 and the men’s squad conquered Brescia 69-50.
Coach Ginger Colvin’s 10th-ranked Lady Tigers (9-2) saw 14 of their 16 players score, led by the 24-point output of Courtney Clifton, 19 by Mackenzie Lee and 10 by Lindsey Burd.
Starting point guard Katie Allen had 13 assists and five steals in only 18 minutes of action.
The CU men’s team (9-3), rated 20th, led only 35-33 at intermission before doubling up the Bearcats 34-17 in the second 20 minutes.
Vernon Payne had 24 points to pace coach Keith Adkins’ club while Justin Ennis and Jordan Myers each had 11. The Lady Tigers played in Puerto Rico yesterday and tomorrow while both teams return to action on Jan. 3 at Rio Grande before a Jan. 5 twinbill at Shawnee State. Their next home games will be on Jan. 12.
