Tiger men respond with 113-56 win over Chillicothe
Campbellsville University men’s basketball bounced back from a disappointing season opener loss to close out the Giovanni Tip-off Classic with a 113-59 victory over Ohio University-Chillicothe on Saturday.
“We took the loss last night (Friday) and responded the way you’d want a team to respond with better energy and better effort,” CU head coach Keith Adkins said. “We still have some things we can work on, but it was a step in the right direction.”
The Tigers jumped out to an early 13-3 lead and never looked back, steadily increasing the lead. CU took a 58-35 lead into half-time and led by 50 points (102-52) with five minutes to play.
Reggie Smith came off the bench for his first appearance of the season and led the Tigers with 25 points while Justin Ennis had 21. Four other Tigers also scored in double figures: Kevin Bobson (14), Jordan Meyers (12), Cedric Henderson (11) and Melik Thomas (10). True freshman Darius Clement had seven assists in his first start at point guard.
Campbellsville (1-1) returns to action on Saturday (4:00) at Life (Ga.) University.

Lady Tiger squad rolls in Ohio 110-66
Cell service in Ohio was spotty on Saturday, but that didn’t keep the Lady Tigers from communicating a 110-66 win at Wilberforce their second triumph in 16 hours.
Campbellsville (2-0) found themselves in a game for half of the initial period, according to head coach Ginger Colvin.
“They jumped out on us, hit a few shots and took a little lead,” Colvin said. “But, we had a spurt and pulled ahead by 18.”
Wilberforce (0-2) rallied after that and pulled within nine before intermission, but CU made another run and captured a 53-31 half-time lead.
“We did a pretty good job,” Colvin offered. “Our defense wasn’t great, but playing again so soon after Friday’s game that’s to be expected.”
Mackenzie Lee led four CU players in double figures with 22 points while Megan Isaacs had 19, Courtney Clifton 13 and Katie Allen 10. Isaacs paced the Lady Tigers with eight rebounds while Lee had four assists and three steals and Mary Jehlik four blocked shots.
The CU women play at Trevecca Nazarene on Friday.
