As the boa constrictor wraps around the man's legs, the children scream - some in delight, others in fear.

Area children learned all about reptiles on Thursday at the Taylor County Public Library.

Michael Opferman, a naturalist with Animal Tales in Mayfield, presented "Reptile Scales & Tails" at the library as part of its "Dig Into Summer" reading program events.

Opferman brought six exotic animals for children to learn about, including the boa constrictor, European legless lizard, Argentine black and white tegu, giant African bullfrog, yellow-footed tortoise and a milk snake.

After learning about the animals, the children got to touch the boa constrictor.
