Council puts smoking ban on hold

Campbellsville City Council members will hold off on putting a smoking ordinance to a final vote while a committee works out a few more details.

Though Council members did not discuss the ordinance during their regular meeting on Monday, the following morning Councilman David Nunery said the committee is revisiting other cities' ordinances.

"We've also been looking at all the recent court cases, in particular the one in Jefferson Court," Nunery said.

Louisville's smoking ban excluded Churchill Downs, a move that has since been declared unconstitutional.
