Santa Claus has helpers around the world, and many live in Taylor County.

There are also people in Taylor County who keep the spirit of giving alive all through the year, and not just during the holiday season.

Santa needs helpers like these people, and the Campbellsville Kiwanis Club wants to honor them.

The club is searching for this year's Santa's Helper Award recipient.

Those who know someone who fits the description have a chance to give that person the credit they deserve.

Write to the News-Journal or the Kiwanis Club and nominate the person, explaining why he or she is Santa's Helper and should be recognized.

A Campbellsville Kiwanis Club committee will select this year's winner, based on the content of the letters received.

The winner will be presented with a plaque and light the community Christmas tree and other lights during a special ceremony at Miller Park on Nov. 21. A time will be announced at a later date.

Also, a story about the winner and their accomplishments will be printed in the News-Journal.

Nomination letters can be e-mailed to info@campbellsvillekiwanis.org or reporter@cknj.com.

Those who have questions should contact Kiwanis member Donna Kerr at 465-1709 or 789-3025.

Those wanting to nominate someone can also mail letters to Santa's Helper, c/o Central Kentucky News-Journal, P.O. Box 1138, Campbellsville, Ky., 42719, bring nomination letters to the News-Journal office at 428 Woodlawn Ave. or fax letters to the News-Journal at 465-2500.

The deadline to submit nominations is 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16.

In nomination letters, be sure to include the person's name, address, telephone number and detailed reasons and examples of why he or she is the best choice for this year's Santa's Helper Award.

Also be sure to include the name of the person doing the nominating, along with their address and phone number.
