Clinton County out-shoots CHS Eagles 83-72

Home team shoots nearly 58 percent, but visitors nail 12 threes and get 36 from Claywell

Campbellsville High School scored a season-high 72 points, but were saddled with its 17th loss in 18 outings by visiting Clinton County 83-72 on Monday night in Paul J. Coop Gymnasium.
“We played our best game of the year and they hit 12 threes,” Eagles’ head coach Tim Davis said.
Campbellsville fell behind 11-2, but crept within two (41-39 and 55-53) at the start and end of the third quarter.
However, the Bulldogs put up 28 points in the final frame for the road win to improve to 14-6.
Reserve Chris Lasley kept CHS close (41-37) in the first half with three treys and most of his 15 points while A.J. Vaught tallied 14 of his 16 points in the second half.
Austin Hash (12), Damontez Smith (11) and Derrick Caldwell (10) also reached double digits for the Eagles.
Junior Lance Claywell led all scorers with 36 points, on seven threes, for Clinton County.
With Green County in the Touchstone Energy All “A” Classic Statewide Tournament this week, the Eagles’ home game scheduled vs. the Dragons has been changed to a road game at Danville on Friday.
