Taylor County residents who want to do some spring cleaning will soon have a place to take some of their unwanted items.
The County will offer a cleanup Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The cleanup will be at the paved back parking lot at the former Fruit of the Loom building.
Those attending should enter and exit only off West Main Street. Signs will be posted.
There may be a long line, so those attending are asked to be patient and watch for traffic and workers.
The cleanup is free to Taylor County residents and is sponsored by Taylor County Fiscal Court.
Those attending should be prepared to present a valid driver's license to be allowed to dispose of their items. For more information, call Taylor County Judge/Executive Eddie Rogers' office at 465-7729.
Acceptable items include refrigerators, mattresses, water heaters, box springs, stoves, sofas, washers and dryers, love seats, air conditioners, chairs, televisions, cardboard, VCRs, wood and construction materials, batteries (donated to Boy Scouts), carpeting and padding, porcelain/ceramic (tiles, bath tubs, sinks, etc.), hard plastic items (toys, feeder troughs, swimming pools, etc.), farm implements/machinery, computers, aluminum siding, fencing, metal roofing, cars and machine parts.
Items not accepted include steel cable, hazardous waste, shingles, oil and oil filters, tires, anti-freeze, concrete, brick, stone, yard and tree trimmings, household garbage, compact trash and paint.
