CHS student to perform at state fair

Samuel Kessler, a freshman at Campbellsville High School, will compete at the semi-finals competition of the Coca-Cola Talent Classic at the Kentucky State Fair.

Kessler will compete on Saturday, Aug. 16, at 2:30 p.m. He will play a piano piece and sing at the South Wing Conference Center of the Kentucky Fair and Exhibition Center.

The competition is for performers ages 13 to 21. Preliminary competitions are hosted in nearly 40 counties across Kentucky and surrounding states. The semi-final and final competitions are hosted each August.

The semi-final competition will feature performances by singers, dancers, bands and instrumentalists. The winner will receive the title of Grand Award Winner, which includes a cash prize of $1,200, a trophy and a poster-size picture of their winning act on the Wall of Champions displayed at the fair each year.

Several winners of the Coca-Coal Talent Classic have gone on to have successful music careers. Former winners include Nicole Scherzinger, Whitney Boyles, Maggie Lawson and Beth Current.
