Durham posts pair of three-hit games for Campbellsville

By Bobby Brockman

Campbellsville High School split its last two baseball tilts and stand 2-2 before Monday’s game at Nelson County.
The Eagles rolled past Caverna 19-2 on the road Thursday night as Zach Durham went 3-5 with four runs batted in and Owen Weeks, Cody Houk and Austin Hash had two hits apiece.
Chase Thomas had a solo home run to lead off the second and had two sacrifice flies for a three-RBI game and Hash had two singles, a walk and was hit by a pitch for three more RBI.
Houk and J.T. Holmes had two RBI apiece.
Durham went the first two innings on the hill with Tony Barrera tossing the third and Dominique Allen the fourth and fifth.
Four-time defending Fifth Region champion Central Hardin (3-1 with a season-opening home loss to Louisville Male) edged the Eagles 3-2 on Friday night at Campbellsville University.
The Bruins led 1-0 after the first frame, 2-1 after the second and scored what proved to be the game-winning tally in the fourth.
The Eagles scored in the second on Hash’s single, a sacrifice bunt by Thomas and back-to-back singles by Julian Pierce and Durham.
With Central Hardin up 3-1, Campbellsville made it a one-run game as Weeks was hit by a pitch, sacrificed to second by Dalton Hughes before Pierce and Durham followed with singles.
The Eagles had a baserunner in the fifth (Holmes reached on error) and sixth (a single by Durham) and had two runners on in the seventh, but could not tally the tying score. Durham went 3-3 with a walk while Pierce was 2-4.
Pierce pitched the first 3 2/3 innings while Hughes recorded the final 10 outs and allowed only two hits and no runs.
