It's her Golden Birthday - but with a twist. Katie Murley will turn 8 tomorrow on Aug. 8.

In other words, she'll be 8 on 8/8/08.

"It's my favorite number," Katie says with a smile.

A Golden Birthday, also known as a Grand or Star Birthday, is one in which a person turns the age of their birth date.

Katie says the No. 8 has been lucky for her. Her mother, Jackie Livers, says Katie sometimes thinks the No. 8 has been able to get things "changed" for her, such as a "no" from a parent to a "yes."

Katie was born eight days before her mother's 38th birthday. She weighed in at just shy of 8 pounds, at 7 pounds and 6 ounces.

And, Livers' birthday is eight days after Katie's.

Livers said Katie plays sports and her number this season is 8.

"We didn't ask for it," Livers said.

Katie says she's going to take a cake to school with her tomorrow and have cupcakes tomorrow night.

Other birthday celebrations include a trip with her family to Lexington to see the Lexington Legends play and a barnyard-themed birthday party.

Livers says she will incorporate the No. 8 into the party's decorations.

Katie says she wants a trampoline this year but doesn't want just eight presents this year ... she wants 18.

Katie is a third-grader at Taylor County Elementary School. Her father is Eric Murley.
