By Bobby Brockman

Regular-season action ends tomorrow on the high school basketball scene with the 20th District Tournament scheduled to tip off on Tuesday at Adair County. (The schedule appears in today’s Scorecard on page 10.)
Each local squad played two games over the weekend, on Monday and/or Tuesday.
Taylor County sweeps Hart, Nelson at home
Taylor County bounced back from Friday night’s turnaround home loss to LaRue County to upend Hart County 69-56 on Saturday and Nelson County 75-49 on Tuesday.
The Cardinals used 53 points from freshman Quentin Goodin (31) and junior Caleb Wigginton (22) to pull away from the Raiders in the third quarter over the weekend.
TCHS’ 1-2 punch came back to total 54 in the romp over Nelson County in the home finale.
The Cardinals (14-13) conclude regular-season action on Friday defending Fifth Region champion John Hardin (21-3). The Bulldogs have won their last 13 tilts and have not lost since a Dec. 30 setback to Cincinnati Princeton on the Republic Bank Classic.
Campbellsville downs Green after Caverna road loss
Campbellsville came within a basket off a Monday-Tuesday, road-home sweep. However, the Eagles fell to Caverna 58-56 on Monday as CHS fell behind 30-21 at the intermission. Bradley Bates paced the Eagles with 18 points while Derrick Caldwell scored 15 and A.J. Vaught and Austin Hash tallied 10 apiece. Hash completed his double-double with 12 rebounds.
The Eagles held off visiting Green County 42-38 as Hash (14) and Bates (13) combined for 27 and Hash grabbed nine caroms.
Campbellsville visits Nelson County tomorrow.
Lady Eagles avenge loss to Whitefield
Campbellsville’s Lady Eagles avenged an earlier-season loss and hammered visiting Whitefield Academy 60-37 on Monday.
Seniors Heather Watson and Brittany Vaught tallied 24 and 12 points, respectively. Eighth-grader Brenna Wethington pulled down 11 boards.
“Yes it was (a big turnaround),” head coach Richard Dooley said of CHS’ loss in Louisville. “We let a few wins slip away in January. Finally everybody is back and back playing hard.”
The duo could not post enough in Tuesday’s 62-42 home setback to Green County. However, Watson did become the ninth member of the Lady Eagles’ 1,000-point club on her 19th of a 20-point outing. Vaught had 14 points her last game in Paul J. Coop Gymnasium.
CHS plays at LaRue County tonight and at St. Francis on Friday.
Lady Cardinals drop close home clashes
Taylor County’s Lady Cardinals lost a nine-point, fourth-quarter lead and fell 49-45 in overtime to Hart County on Saturday before losing their eighth game by less than six points by falling 37-31 to Clinton County on Monday.
Haley Wright had 16 points against Hart County while Makayla Sabo had eight vs. Clinton.
The Lady Cardinals visit Thomas Nelson on Friday.
