Cards stay in heat of district race

Cox, Macon combine for 50 in 64-53 triumph over Eagles.

Taylor County remained in the thick of the race to earn the district’s top seed with a 64-53 home triumph over Campbellsville on Friday night.


The Cardinals never trailed after building a 9-2 lead which grew to 23 (49-26) in the third quarter after a Shane Morris free throw.

Bryton Taylor tallied 13 of his team-high 22 points in the final nine minutes to bring the Eagles within striking distance.

Chase Cox (26) and Leonard Macon (24) combined for 50 of the TCHS points with Macon grabbing nine rebounds and Morris and Chris Thomas six each. Michael Coulter and Lloyd Stotts helped the Cards to their huge lead with seven assists apiece.

Campbellsville (8-5) played at Green County over the weekend and will host Hart County tomorrow, Marion County on Friday and Meade County on Saturday.

Taylor County (9-4) visits Green County tomorrow and hosts North Hardin on Friday.
