TCHS concludes season Friday night at home vs. Green County

By Bobby Brockman

A huge play right before the half seemed to take the wind out of Taylor County’s football sails and the Cardinals dropped a 35-20 decision at home to Barren County on Friday night.
The Cardinals took the opening kick-off and went 11 plays with a fumble to lead 7-0 on Jarrett Benningfield’s 6-yard touchdown run and Aaron Gray’s extra-point kick.
However, the Trojans tallied the next two scores to lead 14-7 early in the second period before Taylor County tied the game on Dylan Bright’s 48-yard run.
It was Bright’s run just before the half when he was caught just short of the goal line as the half ended that seemed to thwart the Cards’ momentum.
Barren County (4-5) tacked on a touchdown after a three-minute drive and added another TD late in the frame to lead 35-14.
Taylor County used a Connor Fair fumble recovery and Bright’s one-yard tally to close out the scoring.
The Cardinals’ campaign ends this Friday when the Cardinals (3-6)  entertain Green County (4-5).
