Cards bring home first place, best percussion awards

Taylor County High School Marching Cardinals participated in the Marion County Knightfest on Saturday, winning first place and the best percussion award in Class AAA in the preliminary round.

Russell County was the second place band and received the best guard award in Class AAA.

In the evening's final round, the Marching Cards took the overall best percussion award and received fourth place.

Barren County was the grand champion with Boyle County the reserve grand champion. Washington County was named third place, with Russell County fifth and overall best guard award. Glasgow took sixth place, Green County seventh, Southwestern eighth and Caverna ninth.

This Saturday, the Cardinal band will compete at the Ohio County Marching Contest in Hartford. They will perform at 4:45 p.m. ET. The contest begins at 2:15 p.m. with preliminary awards at 6 p.m.

The Campbellsville University Marching Tigers will perform in exhibition at 5:45 p.m.

Final competition will begin at 7:30 p.m. and conclude at 11 p.m.

The Marching Cardinals are under the direction of Stephen Bishop. Josh Sullivan is the field commander. This year's program is titled "Reflections."
