Campbellsville man arrested on child sexual exploitation offenses

A Campbellsville man was arrested by Kentucky State Police Tuesday evening and faces charges of 20 counts of possession of matter portraying a sex performance by a minor and 20 counts of distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor, according to a KSP release. 

The release states that Christopher W. Phyfe, 43, of Campbellsville, was taken into custody around 7 p.m. Tuesday at a residence in Campbellsville. The arrest resulted from an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. The KSP Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after discovering Phyfe shared images of child sexual exploitation online. 

State police executed a search warrant on a Campbellsville residence where Phyfe was arrested. Equipment that was used to facilitate the crime was seized by law enforcement and will be examined by KSP's forensic laboratory, according to the report. 

Each charge that Phyfe faces is punishable by 1-5 years in prison and are Class D felonies. 

Phyfe is currently lodged in the Taylor County Detention Center. 

Kentucky State Police are still investigating the case.
