Bluegrass Cellular is calling on the community to select its featured 2011 Battles in the Bluegrass football rivalry games. Battles in the Bluegrass is a high school sports program that features rivalry football games across the state. The program is part of Bluegrass Cellular’s ongoing support of community high school athletics.
High school football fans are encouraged to vote online at www.battlesinthebluegrass.com for their favorite rivalries. Taylor County High School’s game against Hart County High School on Oct. 14 is one of eight high school football games in central Kentucky contending for a spot in the 2011 Battles line up.
Voting began Aug. 9 and ends at noon Friday. The four games with the most votes will be selected for the Battles in the Bluegrass season.
Each high school selected as a Battles in the Bluegrass featured rivalry game will receive a $250 donation from Bluegrass Cellular and be eligible to win an additional $1,250 through Play of the Game and Play of the Season online voting contests throughout football season.
“For the second year in a row, Bluegrass Cellular is proud to support high school sports rivalries through our Battles in the Bluegrass program,” stated Barry Nothstine, Bluegrass Cellular vice president of sales and marketing. “This year, however, we’re asking the community to get more involved by selecting the biggest rivalries and telling us where to bring our Battles in the Bluegrass crew.”
Rivalry game winners will be added to a traveling “Battles in the Bluegrass” trophy that will be displayed at every game. Each winning team will also receive an individual trophy to be displayed at the school.
Fans are encouraged to log on to www.battlesinthebluegrass.com to vote for the four games of their choice through Aug. 19 and check back for game preview videos and other Battles in the Bluegrass highlights throughout football season.
