Taylor County finishes at 3-7 after six consecutive setbacks

By Bobby Brockman

Green County scored a pair of touchdowns and led 18-0 early en route to a 51-15 victory at Taylor County on Friday night.
Two screen passes to Evan Jaggers from Austin Matney went for scores and the Dragons blocked a punt and recovered the fumble for a three-touchdown cushion in the opening frame.
After Connor Fair recovered Brandon Williams’ fumble in the end zone, the dragons added another Jaggers’ tally and a Weston McDermott to lead 32-7.
Dylan Bright’s TD run right as the half ended and Hunter Christie’s conversion tally made it 32-15 at the intermission.
However, Green County (5-5) used two scores in the third period and another score in the final quarter to start the continuous clock.
Bright paced the Cardinals (3-7) with 84 rushing yards as Taylor County ran 25 more plays than did Green County. However, the Dragons averaged over 10 yards per rush (21 attempts for 258 yards) and completed six passes for another 196 yards as Taylor County could find no answer in stopping the Dragons’ elusive runners.
Green County, which lost its opener to Bardstown (8-2) in the Forcht Bank Bowl back in August, hosts the Tigers this Friday in a Class AA play-off first-round clash. The Dragons’ other losses came to  Frankfort (8-2), Danville (5-5), Caldwell County (10-0) and Glasgow (9-1).
The Cardinals, who lost their last six games after a 3-1 start, do not qualify for post-season play but all 10 of their regular-season opponents do.
