They learned how to signal turns, select the right bicycle and ensure proper helmet fit.
The younger bicycle enthusiasts got to personalize their helmets with glitter and beads. Purchased at a discount rate with funds from the Paula Nye Memorial Education Grant program, participants in Saturday's bicycle safety workshop were given free helmets at the Taylor County Cooperative Extension office.
Certified cycling instructor Tim Ramsey said the workshop, organized by the Campbellsville/Taylor County Trail Town committee and the Taylor County 4-H Youth Development program, was part of an ongoing effort to get the community excited about bicycling.
More cycling workshops and community bicycle rides are planned for spring.
