Bengals, Cowboys, Saints and Titans triumph during opening weekend of youth football

The Saints and Titans posted Saturday wins in Junior League action while the Cowboys and Bengals were victorious in Sunday's Senior League as Campbellsville Community Club Youth Football kicked off its 2008 season.

In Junior League play:

Saints 20, Cardinals 12

The Saints got touchdown runs of 54, 5 and 7 yards from Tyrion Taylor in besting the Cardinals in overtime.

Tyler Franklin kept the Cards close on TD runs of 50 and 18 yards.

John Courtwright added the two-point conversion for the Saints.

Chanson Atkinson led the Saints' defense while Marcus Moore anchored the Cards' "D."

Titans 16, Colts 0

Arick Groves tallied on TD runs of 7 and 2 yards and Chandler Stewart added a conversion for the Titans.

Dylan Davis had a fumble recovery for the victors while Lane Bottoms and DeJhon Taylor had key stops for the Colts.

In Senior League action:

Cowboys 28, Steelers 0

Jarrett Benningfield scored on runs of 55, 63 and 54 yards as the Cowboys cruised to the shutout victory.

Antonio Barrera and Kendon Young tacked on conversions.

Slade Burris and Zach Richerson led the Cowboys on defense while the Steelers got stops from Demontez Smith and Ruben Felix.

Bengals 24, Eagles 6

The Bengals led 8-6 at the half before pulling away in the second half.

Trevon Haralson's seven-yard TD run and Quentin Goodin's conversion put the Bengals on top before Caleb Lee's 5-yard Eagle TD run.

TD runs by Connor South (52 yards) and Goodin (67) pulled the Bengals away.

Justin Burton led the Bengal defense while Tyler Bragg anchored the Eagles' defense.
