CHS opens district play at home vs. Williamsburg

By Bobby Brockman

“They’re probably as good as any team we’ve played this year,” Campbellsville High School head coach Dale Estes remarked after the Eagles’ 41-12 home loss to Danville on Friday.
“We didn’t play that poorly, but they scored four touchdowns early and we helped with three interceptions.
“We really didn’t look that bad, they’re just that good.
“I did think (junior running back) Eric Lamer had a good game (65 rushing yards) and we did have four different players recover fumbles (Lamer, Grant Adams, Logan Brown and Arick Groves).”
After the Admirals built a 34-0 half-time cushion, Groves hooked up with Kendon Young for a 25-yard score and then late in the game, with CHS down 41-6, Groves picked up a loose pigskin and tallied from 13 yards out.
Campbellsville (0-6) begins district play at home this week against the favorite — Williamsburg.
