By Becky Cassell, Editor

"Love is a wonderful thing. You never have to take it away from one person to give it to another. There's always more than enough to go around."

-Pamela de Roy

Love. It truly does make the world go 'round. Whether it's the romantic love of sweethearts, the cherishing love of parents, or the loyal love of friends, we all have special people in our lives.

But do the people you love know just how much you care?

It's easy to forget the importance of saying, "I love you," in the business of our daily lives. But the Central Kentucky News-Journal is giving you a chance to do just that - and you might even win a prize for your effort.

Valentine's Day is just around the corner and the News-Journal is gearing up for the season of hearts and love. We are asking readers to write a letter to their loved ones, explaining just why that person is so special.

While Valentine's Day generally focuses on romantic love, we're also seeking letters that illustrate love of other types, such as the love of a parent for a child, a special friendship, a grandchild's love for his or her grandparents, or the special bonds that exist in other relationships.

A panel of judges will choose a letter from a child, one from a teen-ager and one from an adult for a prize package. Judges will look for creativity as well as originality.

Area merchants will provide prizes. All winners will also receive a year's subscription to the Central Kentucky News-Journal.

The winning letters will be published in the News-Journal on Thursday, Feb. 14.

Letters should be no longer than 400 words and must be at the News-Journal's office by 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1. Entries may be submitted by e-mail to editor@cknj.com; by fax to 465-2500; mailed to P.O. Box 1138, Campbellsville, Ky. 42719; or brought by the office on Woodlawn Avenue.

Questions may be addressed to Editor Rebecca Cassell at 465-8111 Ext. 227 or at editor@cknj.com.
