Playing with a short deck of Cardinals, Taylor County High School was pummeled 69-6 on the road Friday night at Lexington Catholic.
“They were incredibly good and we had three players (starters Daulton Turpin, Blake Dudgeon and Raphael Cunha) out,” TCHS head coach Eric Graves remarked after the contest. “Our boys did have a chance to see what a Division 1 quarterback looks like.”

Taylor County led 14-7 with just over three minutes left in the first half.
But, the Cardinals were stopped on fourth down at the Taylor County 30-yard line and home-standing Marion County tallied 35 more consecutive points en route to a 42-14 district victory on Friday night in Lebanon.
“I shouldn’t have gone for it,” admitted TCHS Head Coach Eric Graves. “The kids said ‘coach we can get it’ and I’m trying to build some confidence in this team.”

Boyle County may not be the same team that won 47 consecutive games and five straight state titles from 1999-2003, but the Rebels are still a “polished well-oiled machine” as Taylor County will attest to after a 57-0 loss at home on Friday night.
The Rebels (4-2 with losses to undefeated powers Fort Thomas Highlands and John Hardin), scored three different ways — kick-off return, run and punt return to take a 21-0 first-quarter lead.

Taylor County High School notched its third win of the season and left Breckinridge County with a 28-7 victory on Friday night.

Seniors Blake Dudgeon and Cody Newton each broke the century yard mark.
Dudgeon tallied two scores, breaking away for 53-yard run for the first touchdown early in the second quarter.
On the next possession, it would be Newton’s turn, going 80 yards.

Despite six turnovers, Taylor County began its 2011 football season with a 21-0 road win at McCreary Central on Friday night.
The game was delayed by an hour due to heavy rain and lightning, but it did not dampen the debut of Eric Graves as Cardinals’ head coach.
“Other than the turnovers we played well,” Graves admitted. “Our defense stood out. It had in the scrimmages and it did again tonight.
“We do have to get better at tackling and that will come. But, the boys played well and did what we expected of them.
