Doing your best during adversity
Recently, I came home from work one day and felt a sharp pain in my stomach. It was a familiar pain, one that has occurred eight times over the past 17 years. Each time, I was hospitalized for a number of days until the blockage dissolved.
But this time would be different and much more challenging. This time I needed surgery. The surgery went well, but the recovery time was lengthy and unexpected. Bad things happen at the most inconvenient times.

Treasure hunt saves city money
It has often been said, “One man’s junk is another man’s treasure.” Now that spring has arrived, the presence of yard and garage sales abound. Every day, faithful shoppers and bargain hunters scour the highways and byways searching for “deals.”
During the past 10 months, the Campbellsville Police have engaged in their own bargain hunting.

A day of 'cleaning up' Campbellsville
Certainly no one, including me, discounts the important and difficult work our sanitation crews do to keep our city clean and healthy.
I recently learned that firsthand one morning when I showed up to work at 4:45 a.m. at the Sanitation Department. It just so happened that they were one person short that day. I tried to fill that spot, but may have been more of a hindrance to them. I had a lot to learn in a short amount of time.
We hung on to the rails on the back of the truck in spite of the dark, cold and rainy morning.

City is violating employees' rights
I just read the article about the city approving a policy limiting employee social media use. I found many components of the “policy” interesting.
For instance, a city employee posting a complaint about someone (i.e. a supervisor) or an issue within the city could result in disciplinary action. City Attorney John Miller said he believes the policy states that, “posting that information would be inappropriate.”
