Students at Campbellsville Independent Schools won’t have to pay a dime for their breakfast or lunch this coming school year.
At Monday night’s regular Campbellsville School Board meeting, Jeff Richardson, food services director, announced that because enough of the District’s students now qualify for free lunches, the District can participate in a program that will allow the entire student population to receive free breakfasts and lunches. The news was followed by applause from Board members.

The way social media has taken over society today, it’s understandable that an organization like the city of Campbellsville would feel the need to have a policy related to its use by employees. However, we believe the policy could have been handled much differently.

The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunches is on the rise at several local schools, and that’s a trend officials say ties directly to the local economy.
According to 2011 data from the Kentucky Department of Education, the percentage of free/reduced lunches at Taylor County Elementary School is 63 percent (up from 54 percent in 2008), 55 percent at Taylor County Middle School (up from 44 percent), and 50 percent at Taylor County High School (up from 37 percent).

When my father passed away, the CKNJ charged $75 for an obituary and picture. The Columbia and Greensburg papers were free. I called the CKNJ to put an “in memory” picture of my father in the paper, and was told it would be $20 to $30.
This got me curious on charges since my nephew married and his announcement was free. I called the CKNJ and it’s also free to put a wedding picture and the write up on the wedding.

Sunday evening I noticed a Facebook friend's post about the free toothpaste she picked up at Kroger. It was late, Kroger was closed but I was determined I would not miss out on the toothpaste deal this time. Last time I procrastinated and there were none to be had and my coupons were expiring too soon for a raincheck to help.
