When I became mayor, I began an initiative to ensure that all employees are treated fairly and with respect.
Employees are now given the opportunity for benefits, rather than watching benefits go to persons who have less time and service than themselves. I have insisted that employees are treated fairly and with consistency whenever compared to previous, similar situations.

Use caution with fireworks during drought
Weeks without a good rain and days of 100-plus degree temperatures have left Taylor County and many others in Kentucky parched.
Still, as of the writing of this editorial on Monday, Taylor County is not under a burn ban and the county’s annual fireworks display is still scheduled to go on as usual. Many residents will also take the opportunity to enjoy their own fireworks displays at home.
While it’s legal to use a wide array of fireworks, even in these dry conditions, that doesn’t mean it’s a good idea.

No injuries reported
McDonald's damaged in fire
McDonald’s restaurant was damaged after a fire started in a fryer on Saturday, June 23.
According to a Campbellsville Fire & Rescue report, the fire started in a french fryer and was contained to the fryer and overhead duct.
The report states that the fire was extinguished by two dry chemical fire extinguishers.
Twenty-five personnel responded with four apparatuses. No injuries were reported.

Fast road to broke

Firefighters want dress uniforms
It would cost nearly $36,000 to outfit the firefighters in Taylor County with formal dress uniforms.
On Monday, Taylor Fiscal Court’s Law Enforcement Committee met to discuss the purchase of such uniforms.
