Lady Tigers awaken, down SCC 105-78 in first round
Campbellsville awoke from a first-half slumber and survived a scare from St. Catharine in the opening round of the Mid-South Tournament moving on with a 105-78 win on Thursday.
The Lady Patriots, using eight first-half threes, trailed by five (47-42) at intermission before the Lady Tigers used a 28-11 run to start the second half and pushed the lead to 22 (75-53). SCC closed within 12 with 6:00 to go, but again the Lady Tigers made a run.

Campbellsville University will have a chance at two more home games this season. After the Tigers’ NAIA Tournament hopes came to an end with a Mid-South Conference Tournament loss last week, CU will now serve as the No.1 seed in the Mid-East Region of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Tournament.
Campbellsville (16-15) will host Tennessee Temple on Thursday in a 7 p.m. tip-off at Powell Athletic Center.
The other region semifinal Thursday night will be between No. 3 Victory Christian and second-seed King College.

Lady Tiger seniors go out in style
The Campbellsville University Lady Tigers had a senior moment Saturday afternoon, but fortunately it wasn’t one endorsed by the AARP.
Saying goodbye to six seniors who have led Campbellsville to 103 wins, the Lady Tigers dismantled the University of the Cumberlands 101-72 for their 32nd conference win in their last 33 starts.

Shawn Savage’s five first-half treys ignited Campbellsville University to a 37-22 half-time advantage en route a 79-60 home victory over Lindsey Wilson College on Thursday night.
Lindsey Wilson scored the first five points, but Tigers built a 20-point lead as Savage had 15 points, JaVaughn Espritt 10 and Caleb Harris eight in the first half.
The onslaught continued after intermission despite Savage hitting only two three-pointers and two free throws in the second half..

Lady Tigers clinch third straight MSC regular-season title with 120-64 Saturday rout over St. Catharine
The Campbellsville University Lady Tigers needed a win to clinch their third straight Mid-South regular season title and they got it Saturday against St. Catharine College 120-64 in Powell Athletic Center.
The game was won in the first six minutes as CU (23-3, 15-1) blew out to a 22-5 lead and the Lady Tigers led by 33 before settling on a 57-26 half-time advantage.

Lady Tigers use defense to blow out Pikeville
The last time the Lady Tigers played Pikeville the Lady Bears gave them everything they wanted in an 85-76 CU win. However, on Thursday night the Lady Tigers gave Pikeville everything they wanted and the result was another win (85-50).
Campbellsville (20-3, 13-1) held Pikeville to 15 first-half points in building a 41-15 advantage at the intermission and were never threatened.

Savage hits 1,000-point milestone

Shawn Savage became the second CU basketball player in a two-hour span to reach the 1,000-point milestone with two early threes as the Tigers improved to 15-11 overall and 8-7 in the Mid-South Conference with a 70-58 win at Virginia Wise. on Saturday.

Seniors are supposed to stand out and they did on Thursday night for coach Keith Adkins’ Campbellsville University Tigers in their 74-62 home victory over Rio Grande on Feb. 3.
The Tigers led by only one (37-36) at the intermission when Adrian Whelan was fouled on a three-pointer at the horn. However, Campbellsville broke away from a 46-44 second-half deficit with a 16-2 run started by Reggie Smith’s three-pointer and sparked by JaVaughn Espritt’s 11 points.
