Megan Romines, a senior at Taylor County High School, was named 2008 Taylor County Junior Miss on Saturday in Campbellsville High School’s Hamilton Auditorium.

Rosie Thompson, 70, of Campbellsville, died at 3:20 p.m. on Monday, August 27, 2007 in Lebanon, Ky.

Kaleigh Brooke Hunt, recently celebrated her sixth birthday with a swimming party with her family and friends.

Newspaper to cease Monday publication after Sept. 25 issue

CKNJ to publish once weekly

Change is inevitable. That’s true in everything in life, and the newspaper industry is no different.

That’s why today, the Central Kentucky News-Journal is announcing that it will be adjusting its publication frequency.

The CKNJ currently publishes on Monday and Thursday. On Sept. 25, the paper will publish its final Monday edition, and will publish each Thursday going forward.

William Rayburn “Billy” and Jane Carol Kessler Vaughn will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on Sunday, September 2.

John and Farrah McLean of Campbellsville announce the birth of a son, Cole Lakin, at 9:23 a.m. on Friday, July 27 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. He weighed 8 pounds, 12 ounces and was 19 ½ inches long.

Taylor County High School Class of 1967 hosted their 40-year reunion on July 7 at Taylor County Elementary School.

Community comes together in unity

The Miller Park Pavilion was full on Thursday afternoon as community leaders and citizens gathered together for a time of prayer and unity following the unrest that has occurred since the events in Charlottesville, Virginia over a week ago.

Civil dialogue is necessary in responding to Charlottesville

Stop the spread of hate and racism

I have spent a significant amount of time reading and trying to gather as much information about the horrific events that took place in Charlottesville, Virginia, this weekend. Masses of protesters and counter-protesters clashed and one person was killed and 19 or 20 others injured when a 20-year-old man from Ohio (but recently moved from the Florence, Kentucky area) drove his car into the crowd, plowing over anyone and everyone in his path.

This year, attendance is up at both local school districts. At Campbellsville Independent, 1,115 students were enrolled as of Tuesday, an increase of 21 students from this time last year. Taylor County Schools boasts 2,642 students, 81 more than last year.

Army Pvt. Joseph M. Buckman Jr. has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Knox.

Campbellsville High School Class of 1949 recently gathered for its reunion with 22 members and guests present.

Mrs. Mary R. Miller celebrated her 90th birthday on June 23 with a party at All Occasions in Campbellsville.

Joyce Dearen, 66, of Campbellsville, died at 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007 in Campbellsville.
