New system would cost more, but be more accurate to reach citizens facing possible emergencies

City looks at new emergency call system

By James Roberts

Emergency weather alerts could soon be more accurate.
With the city’s contract with One Call Now set to expire in just two weeks, Ronnie Dooley, assistant E-911 coordinator and Taylor County Emergency Management public information coordinator, has suggested the city switch to a new service — CodeRED.

Dooley and CodeRED representative Kurt Steier attended Tuesday night’s Campbellsville City Council meeting to discuss the service.
The city contracted with One Call Now four years ago at a cost of $25,000, Dooley said.

City will pay $8,900 monthly on new land

By James Roberts

The city will pay $8,900 a month for land that could be a future home to a sports complex and the Taylor County Fair.
Campbellsville City Council met in special session Monday night to approve a resolution for financing the land purchase.

During a recent joint meeting with Taylor County Fiscal Court, Council members voted for the city to purchase 175 acres from Sue Dowell for $1.3 million. The land is located near Heartland Commerce and Technology Park off KY 55. Following further negotiations with Dowell, the total acreage later grew to 180 acres.

Rescue, E-911 deficits to be shared for the next four years.

City, county to continue partnership

By Calen McKinney

After nearly three months of discussion, the city and county have finally agreed on how to pay for the community's Rescue and E-911 services.

The deficits of operating Rescue and E-911 services will be split equally between both governments for the next four years.

The decision came after a two-and-a-half hour joint meeting of the Campbellsville City Council and Taylor Fiscal Court on Monday night at Campbellsville University.

Also part of the agreement, a committee will be formed to discuss the operation of Rescue and E-911.

Council says no to Rescue debt

By James Roberts

Campbellsville City Council members opted not to assume Rescue's $170,000 in debt if the service is transferred to the County.

The Council met in regular session Monday night to discuss changes made to the Rescue/E-911 agreement by Taylor County Fiscal Court.
