Movie off Main debuts Friday, Sept. 21
Something different. Something free. Something entertaining.
Those who go to Main Street tomorrow night might see something they haven’t seen before — a movie screened on one of the buildings.
After tomorrow’s Market Off Main event, scheduled for 4 to 9 p.m. on South Court Street, a new event — Movie Off Main — will begin. “American Graffiti” will be shown beginning at dusk.
Movie Off Main is the brainchild of three Campbellsville residents — Max Wise, Andrew Ward and Dr. Jason Garrett.

City to save $100,000 on insurance
The city of Campbellsville will save approximately $100,000 it had planned to spend on health insurance increases for employees in the coming year.
At Tuesday night’s city council meeting, the city’s insurance broker, Kelly Hardy, presented proposals for employee insurance rates to the council from two companies, Humana and United Health Care.
The city had budgeted for an increase of 15 percent in insurance premiums for the coming year with Humana, its current provider.

Reader has fond memories of cruising in Campbellsville
Wow! Just when I thought Campbellsville was finally making strides for improvement and actually growing,
I read the article “Cruising causes concerns for residents.”
Really?
I grew up with cruising. Every Friday and Saturday night we all looked forward to going to town and seeing our friends and showing off our cars. There was no trouble. A policeman was usually patrolling the area.
The only time there was any trouble was away from town, not in town.

Resident is proud of Main Street
I just want to thank whoever made Main Street so pretty. It looks alive again.
The beautiful urns and flowers changed the look so much. So glad Happy Days is in the old Corner Drug building where I spent a lot of happy hours in younger years.

Campbellsville needs its residents to be leaders, dreamers
Campbellsville is a good city that is quickly on its way to becoming great. Main Street is being resurrected right before our eyes. Every time a broken thing gets mended, every time a brick gets put back into place, every light that gets turned back on brings a new level of hope, and hope is the spark that ignites fires.
In the past couple of years, a great deal of momentum has been achieved but we are nowhere near critical mass.

Mayor offers to let city employee stay on at center for training purposes
County seeking recycling manager
The county is searching for an employee to oversee its recycling center.
County officials officially take over operation of the city’s recycling center today, but they have yet to hire an employee to oversee its operation.
At a special meeting last Wednesday, magistrates agreed to ask the city to allow an employee who was overseeing the center to stay there for up to a month to help train a county employee to do the job.
