Few changes in 2011-14 football alignment

By Bobby Brockman

The Kentucky High School Athletic Association approved the football alignment for the 2011-2014 seasons on Monday.

The alignment could be adjusted after two years, but only have a school would have at least 12 percent loss or gain in enrollment.

The Board of Control voted to allow these changes to the original proposal:

u Butler County from District Three to District Two in Class 2A. (Thus, Green County’s district will have four teams (the Dragons, Clinton County, Glasgow and Metcalfe County) instead of five from the original draft.)

Must-win games lie ahead.

Football play-off picture changed for local teams

By Bobby Brockman

Losses last week have the local high school football teams scrambling just a bit as regular-season play ends in three weeks.

Campbellsville, which does not play this week, stands little chance in earning the district title.

The good news: The Eagles should still host a home play-off game if they beat Clinton County next Friday.

The bad news: A number-two seed in the district means CHS would have to host Lexington Christian, Fairview or Raceland who are all rated in the top 10 of Class A.

Casey shuts out Cards 28-0

By David Chewning

Down three injured starters from the previous week, Taylor County dropped a 28-0 road decision to Casey County on Friday.

The Rebels (5-3) showed little compassion on the Cardinals as they used a ball-control ground attack, accumulating 464 yards on 58 carries.

Williamsburg whips Eagles 30-12

By Matt Payton

Campbellsville’s chances of back-to-back district titles took a serious hit on Friday night at Williamsburg when the Eagles fell 30-12.

The Eagles got off to a slow start and never recovered.

Williamsburg running back Kevin Hoffman started the second drive with a 52-yard run to set up a two-yard TD pass from sophomore quarterback Logan Hamblin to senior James Payne. The duo also hooked up on a successful conversion.
