Hazard halts CHS season 55-21

By Bobby Brockman

Hazard struck early with three first-quarter touchdowns and eliminated Campbellsville 55-21 in the second round of the Class A play-offs on Friday night.
“We needed some breaks and they didn’t give us any,” Eagles’ head coach Jay Cobb admitted. “We were faced with too many mismatches tonight.”
The Bulldogs (9-2) need only a two-yard run and an Eagle off-sides penalty before freshman Brandon Jones broke loose for a 59-yard score.

CU concludes regular season vs. West Virginia Tech on Saturday.

Tigers trounce UVA-Wise 42-6

By CU Press Release

Campbellsville University used an early defensive spark and went on to finish out a 42-6 home win Saturday against UVA-Wise at HIG Field in Finley Stadium.
The game did not seem to start in the Fighting Tigers favor as Wise blocked a Carl Ojala punt and the Cavaliers recovered at the CU 27.
However, Wise would not take advantage, finding themselves on a fourth down of their own at the Campbellsville 11. Wise had its kick blocked by Tiger senior Dwight Houston, who scooped the loose ball for a 15-yard return.

Leading only 7-0 at the half on Zach Durham’s touchdown pass to Dra Thornton and Bradley Bates’ extra-point boot, Campbellsville (7-4) tallied a pair of defensive scores in a 15-second stretch to add the exclamation point to their post-season triumph.

Lady Tigers get out of gate fast, win opener 96-40

By Richard RoBards

The road is likely to get rougher, but Campbellsville University’s Lady Tigers smoothed out a few bumps en route to a 96-40 basketball win over Tennessee Temple in the Lady Tigers’ home- and season-opener on Friday night.
Mackenzie Lee and Courtney Clifton sparked a first-half run that led to a 53-24 advantage at intermission. The Lady Tigers scored the first 14 points of the game, six by Lee and four by Megan Isaacs. From there CU threw a variety of lineups at the Lady Crusaders (0-2) from Chattanooga.
