1974 grad still enjoying coaching success

By Bobby Brockman

Just to show how old I and the class of 1974 are getting, there wasn't a girls' basketball team when we graduated in 1974.

The sport which was halted decades earlier (matter of fact Sue Smith's mother was a stand-out) started back again for the 1974-75 campaign.

At least one local young lady didn't get a chance to display her skills while still in high school.

She did go on to play at Western Kentucky University and probably goes down as one of the best female athletes ever produced in Taylor County.

Eagles clobber Cardinals 9-1 on diamond

By Bobby Brockman

Campbellsville High school took advantage of five Taylor County errors and rolled past the visiting Cardinals 9-1 on Tuesday afternoon.

After Taylor County failed to score in the first when its first two hitters (Chance Walls and Chase Roution) reached on walks, the Eagles tallied two unearned runs in the second and never trailed.

Aaron Schwoebel's one-out single moved Taylor Levi, who reached on an error to third where he scored on Adam Simmons' infield single.

A walk to Kyle Martin loaded the bases and Tyler Finn's free pass made it 2-0.

Graham starts efforts to give back to community

By Bobby Brockman

Clint Graham's basketball eligibility is up on the collegiate scene. Now, the former Taylor County High School, Gardner-Webb and Campbellsville University player plans on teaching some of the things he's learned.

Graham, who competed against 2008 College Player of the Year Tyler Hansbrough and against current NBA players Travis Outlaw and Al Jefferson, played his final game when the Tigers lost to Oklahoma City in the NAIA Division 1 semifinals last month in Kansas City.
