Russell County comes back in second half
to down Taylor County High’s Cardinals 70-55
Taylor County led Russell County by three at the half, but were out-scored by 10 in the third quarter and eight in the fourth frame and fell at home 70-55 at home on Tuesday night.
Trae Wells led the Cardinals with 17 points while Quentin Goodin totaled 14 and Caleb Wigginton 11.
Taylor County did best Barren County 57-55 on the road Saturday.

Campbellsville’s Lady Eagles downed Fort Knox 47-34 at home on Monday before falling at Green County 76-42 in the semi-finals of the Touchstone Energy Fifth Region All “A” Classic.
Brittany Vaught hit 10 baskets, one a three-pointer, to lead CHS with 21 points and past Fort Knox.

Campbellsville High’s Eagles had a late rally, but could not fight back from a double-digit deficit and fell to Fort Knox at home in the first round of the Touchstone Energy Fifth Region All “A” Classic on Monday.
The Eagles (1-17) trailed by 15 (49-34) before a Mason Wethington three-pointer and two lay-ups by Damontez Smith around a Trey Henry basket made it 49-43 with 2:17 left.
However, the Eagles could get not closer than six and missed four of their final five free throws to thwart their come-back efforts.

Caleb Wigginton’s 23-point, 12-rebound effort paced the Cardinals to their 11th win in 17 outings while Quentin Goodin and Lucas Bradshaw reached double figures with 16 and 12 points, respectively.

Taylor County’s Lady Cardinals never fully overcame a 15-4 deficit and lost a 49-44 road tilt to Bardstown on Friday night.
The Lady Cardinals (5-8) did creep within 34-33 going to the final quarter and tied the game with seven minutes left, only to be out-scored by five down the stretch.
