Taylor County’s Cards win close one, after two-point setback at North
Taylor County dropped a 58-56 decision at North Hardin on Saturday before conquering Nelson County 62-59 on the road Tuesday night.
Caleb Wigginton had 23 points at North Hardin with Trae Wells putting up 18 points and dishing out five assists and Lucas Bradshaw grabbing nine rebounds with his 13-point game.
The Cardinals had four in double digits at Nelson County with Wigginton scoring 19, Quentin Goodin 14, Bradshaw 13 and Wells 10.

LaRue shoots ‘lights out’ in third, posts 67-48 win over Taylor
LaRue County hit eight third-quarter three-pointers and downed the visiting Taylor County High School boys’ team 67-48 on Friday night in Hodgenville.
The Hawks (18-7) had used a 20-12 second quarter to build a 31-24 half-time cushion before junior Kelton Ford hit four treys and senior Kyle Sheeran three bombs for a 30-point, third-period frame. LaRue County had hit five threes in the first half.

Taylor County led early on Hannah Howard’s three-pointer, but never could re-claim the lead and fell at Washington County 46-45 on Tuesday night in Springfield.
The Commanderettes scored the next nine points and never relinquished the advantage in claiming the second win in three outings vs. the Lady Cardinals.
Howard and Rachel Riggs had 12 points apiece for Taylor County while Becca Orberson and Haley Wright had nine each.

Visiting Adair County could not fully put away Campbellsville, but the Indians did hold off the Eagles to post a 57-51 victory on Friday night.
Kyle Young paced Adair County (17-8) with 20 points while Matt Fudge added 16.
Young became an Indian 1,000-point scorer with his last of eight made free throws.
Freshman guard Damontez Smith led CHS (1-22) with 16 points while senior post player Donnell Smith had nine points and seven rebounds.

Adair County High School (19-4) ran out to an 18-4 first-quarter lead and posted an easy 64-36 triumph over Campbellsville’s Lady Eagles in Paul J. Coop Gymnasium on Friday night.
Lady Eagle junior Brittany Vaught tallied 24 of the CHS points and became the Lady Eagles’ eighth 1,000-point scorer.

Marion County tallied 17 of the game’s first 18 points and rolled past Taylor County’s Lady Cardinals 69-29 on Friday night.
The Lady Knights (22-4 overall with the only Kentucky loss to Louisville Manual in the LIT finals a week ago) used 13 points from Logan Powell and 11 by Kyvin Goodin-Rogers to build a 24-7 first-quarter cushion.
Powell finished with 25 points while Goodin-Rogers added 18 for Marion County, which played without junior all-stater Makayla Epps, who was sitting out the first of two games to rest an aching knee.

Marion County used a five three-pointers in a three-minute stretch of the third quarter to upend home-standing Taylor County 67-51 and wrap up the No. 1-seed in the 20th District Boys’ Tournament later this month at TCHS.
With the game tied at 29-29 early in the second half, the Knights used two Alex Smith treys and three more by John Southall to stretch their lead to double digits.
Southall finished with a game-high 27 points and added a conventional three-point play and the Cards got no closer than nine.

Campbellsville’s Lady Eagles needed a 16-3 fourth quarter to overtake Fort Knox 47-45 on the road Tuesday night.
Freshman Masi Wilson’s base-line three-pointer started the CHS rally and the Lady Eagles were led in scoring by Brittany Vaught’s 13 points, 11 by Heather Watson and eight from Tiffany Slone and the seven of Graison Biggs.
Campbellsville (9-17) hosts Bethlehem on Friday and Whitesville Trinity on Saturday.
