Taylor County found out early Friday that perennial 4A-power Boyle County, despite three losses in its first five games, still packs a potent punch.
The Rebels (3-3, 1-0) accumulated 535 total yards to just 139 for the Cardinals and posted a 53-0 home-field win.
The Cardinal defense held the Rebels in check early, giving up only a three-yard QB Casey Whittle touchdown through the first quarter and forcing two Boyle County punts.

Taylor County made it a school-best 4-0 start with a 40-0 homecoming romp over Breckinridge County on Friday night.
Sophomore quarterback Hunter Christie played a hand in four of the six Cardinal scores with two touchdown runs and two scoring passes.
Daulton Turpin’s 60-yard run gave Taylor County the only points it would need with only 2:22 elapsed in the first frame.
New Cards’ kicker, Aaron Gray, made the first of four extra points for a 7-0 cushion.
After Cody Bast recovered a fumble, Christie kept around left end for a 10-yard tally.

Two flocks of Eagles will square off on Friday night at Campbellsville High School with the victor determining more of its 2012 football fortunes
Bethlehem (2-1) gave up 85 points in its first two games last season before beating Berea in game three. The Eagles beat Berea in game three this year, but downed Washington County 30-27 in game one as coach Ron Koontz attempts to bounce back from last season’s 2-9 worksheet.
