Kentucky Christian School recently celebrated Abraham Lincoln's 200th celebration with "Lincolnfest." They pieced and quilted a quilt for their presentation. Taylor County Extension Homemakers have announced that they are again offering college scholarships this year.
Graduating seniors in Campbellsville and Taylor County high school districts are invited to apply for the $500 award. One scholarship is given in each of the districts.
In addition to academic, financial and extra-curricular considerations, applicants will be judged on involvement in Family and Consumer Sciences, FCCLA, 4-H and other family and consumer science related courses and activities.

Marcelo Ferreira, a graduate student at Campbellsville University from Brazil, was named the best singer in Kentucky in a preliminary round of a national singing competition March 7.
The National Association of Teachers of Singing hosts an artist awards competition for singers at the state, region and national levels every two years in conjunction with NATS conferences.

Merick Turner, a first grader at Taylor County Elementary School, accepted the challenge of recycling ordinary items from his teachers, Janet Woodcox and Shelia Roution, and passed with flying colors. He recycled straws, water bottles, bottle lids, yogurt cups, forks and various other items to make a fire truck.

Campbellsville's Karla Curry will be among 10 candidates to complete their bachelor of fine arts at the Hite Art Institute, University of Louisville this spring.
The students will present an exhibition of their work beginning Tuesday, March 25 in the Hite's Schneider Hall galleries. This exhibition is a culmination of their undergraduate work demonstrating their technical competence, aesthetic abilities and knowledge of professional studio practice.

Taylor County High School drama students will stage "Works in Progress" tomorrow and Saturday night at the Campbellsville University Theater.
"Works in Progress," written by Paul H. Johnson, is a play that focuses on various issues teenagers face such as first dates, eating disorders, breaking up, losing a friend to drunken driving and graduation. Each scene focuses on a different topic, with three scenes being devoted to monologues.

Professional development will be from July 28 through July 31 with opening day on Aug. 1.

Taylor County Middle School kicked off its Relay for Life fundraiser on Friday, Feb. 29. All of the money the school collects between now and the end of the year will go to the American Cancer Society for cancer research. Students and staff donated at least $1 each to wear a hat to school. Laura Gordon's eighth grade class collected the most money, $204.44, on Friday during "Hat's Off to Relay for Life Day." Holly Westbrook's seventh grade class came in second place with $171.40. The school's total for the day was $1,137.29.
